Subsident - a chamber work

steelcaress Sometimes discordant, occasionally unsettling, but ultimately satisfying piece. It ends abruptly, about the time you didn't want it to, mirroring the earthquake said to inspire the work. Hope to hear it with a full orchestra someday!

hands in the dark this was quite a surprise ! very well composed and never dull - a heavy, constantly rumbling piece fit for the "earthquake" theme

about

This is my second serious classical composition. It is a very heavy piece that is intended in part to express the feeling of living through many earthquakes and aftershocks in a short time to the point where one is permanently off balance and always feeling that the ground is unstable. Musically my influences for this piece consist of heavy metal and the living "minimalist" composer Philip Glass. I attempted here my first experiments using Glass's additive rhythmic processes.

"Subsident" is a chamber work in C minor scored for three cellos, bass, timpani, violin, clarinet, and bass clarinet - quite loaded with the low end rumble. Headphones are recommended.

All instruments here are synthesized. No humans have played this piece yet. The score PDF is included with each download. If you want to play it live or record it I would be most thrilled. Please email me: nate.d.logos@gmail.com
